The Wedding Prep areas

Whilst most prep starts at the cottages, around 11am you move to the 'Beauty Booth' at the Bredenbury main house which is super close to the orangery and has a small private courtyard, a wall of mirrors for hair and makeup and a seating area for your wedding party to chill and watch that final prep. I love that the space is full of gorgeous mirrors and it's super neutral and bright so you can get some gorgeous skin tones and colours in this space without any colour cast from bright coloured walls!

One thing I love about getting-ready photos here is that because everything is so close together, I can easily capture lots of what's happening throughout the venue in a small space of time. The orangery all set up for your ceremony, the Oak Barn dressed and ready for your wedding reception, the bar where your guests gather to catch up and get excited and the terrace which overlooks the whole venue for some lovely wide photos. 

There’s also the Stag’s Retreat for the groom and groomsmen if you'd like to have both sets of prep captured, alternatively I can borrow them for 5 minutes (because they're usually super busy) and get some photos against the gorgeous wooden exteriors of the main house. 

The Orangery - Bredenbury Court Barns Ceremony Space

The Orangery is probably one of Bredenbury Court Barn's most iconic spaces. Visually it's stunning and I LOVE that although they have two huge mirrors at the front, which is usually a nightmare for us wedding photographer's because it means our reflection is in every photo (editing nightmare), they've ensured there's a space between them in the middle, so we can ensure we stand in line with that so we're not in the photos. Brilliant. They've literally thought of everything. 

There's also a huge wall of windows on one side and two sky lights above so you're so well lit no matter what the weather. The huge high ceilings also add a lot of drama so we can get those gorgeous wide photos with those in too. 

If you're dreaming of an outdoor wedding though, there is also the West Lawn Gazebo, you're surrounded by rolling Herefordshire fields and there's lots of space for your guests to fan out and you can do so many different chair seating arrangements if you want to get creative with it. 

The Oak Barn - Bredenbury Court Barns Reception Space

The Oak Barn is one of those spaces where you have to take a breath, it's so beautiful to look at and when it's styled, with panoramic views of the gardens all around - it's pretty incredible. It has a barn feel with the high wooden beams but there's floor-to-ceiling glass that brings in all that natural light. This way you get the best of both worlds, there's a rustic aesthetic but you're not compromising on light so everything feels elevated and classy for your wedding breakfast and speeches.

One key thing to note though, the top table is usually placed right in the back window which means you're very backlit and become a shillouete. So when it comes to your speeches, if you stand to the side of your top table so you're facing a window rather than standing in front of it I can get a much better image with more flattering light. 

When it comes to coverage of your wedding breakfast itself, this is usually where I take my break to take the weight off (literally - I've been carrying a fanny bag, two heavy cameras and a harness for hours) and recharge everything for your dancefloor and evening entertainment. I also find photographs of guests when they have food in their mouths is never a flattering one, and at this stage your guests just want to eat and be merry without having a camera snapping away. Instead, I love to document your guests as they're leaving the oak barn as it's being changed over for dancefloor, people are milling around outside, playing games and are usually super chilled and having fun with lawn games in that softer evening light.
