It’s pretty important that you get on with your wedding photographer, that's why I've mentioned it (quite a lot) across the website. So here are some of my favourite things to give you a feel for what I'm about:
how it started
When Matt & I were dating, I booked us a couples shoot (hoping he’d have proposed on our trip to Paris beforehand)! He totally knew my plan, so didn’t propose then, but we still had the shoot and I absolutely adored the whole experience. I felt like I was a main character in a movie, and they were the first photos which I felt truly captured US, as we naturally are. I was hooked and took up photography soon after because I wanted to give that experience to other people.
I took the plunge to really go for it in building this wedding photography business when I was on maternity leave with my first baby. I’d look after her all day, then edit and admin all night. Eventually I got experience with another wedding photographer shadowing them on the weekends so I could learn and practice. A few months on, I got my first wedding booking. Then another. Then another. It got to a point where I was nearing the end of maternity leave and had a decision to make, so I went for it.
I handed in my notice, and slowly started to increase childcare so I could work more as more weddings came through. Growing a business from scratch is a real labour of love, I do it because I care. That’s why my wedding couples will often get messages into the evening once the babies are asleep because I want them to know, this isn’t a 9 to 5 for me, it’s a vocation.
