The wedding spaces at Brinsop Court
The Wedding Prep areas at Brinsop Court
When it comes to wedding prep at Brinsop Court, usually bridal prep happens in the French room in the Bailey wing and grooms in the Dansey wing but it totally depends on what space you love best. From a wedding photography perspective, I always encourage my couples to choose spaces which have lots of lovely natural light and neutral tones so you get beautiful bright images full of colour, without any colour cast from the walls or floors. Red floors are not your friend which it comes to nice, even skin tones!
When a couple are having an outdoor ceremony though, you can get some gorgeous final portraits in the library which adds a really moody, dramatic look. They key thing to consider is the spaces you choose set the tone of your wedding photos. So be sure to select spaces that you adore. Also - sometimes it's nice to use a nearby room to your for final portraits so you have that lovely clean backdrop with no luggage or mess behind you as prep spaces can get messy fast!

Outdoor Ceremony Spaces at Brinsop Court
- The Courtyard Ceremony - perfect if you'd like the manor house to be in your photos
- The Wandsworth Lawn - perfect views of the lake, one of my personal favourites
- Cricket Pitch Lawn - you have the manor house on one side and get to walk along bridge in your aisle walk - stunning
- Woodland Ceremony - such a cool space, darker than lawn spaces as lots of coverage but epic trees adds a lot of visual interest
- The Astley Pergola - looks epic as a wide photo, just be aware the pergola blocks a lot of the light so one side is in light, the other in dark shadow
- The Knot Barn - usually reserved for wedding reception but gorgeous barn feel with lots of natural light
- The Elizabethan Library - Super cool interiors, surrounded by books, love it.
- The Banqueting Hall - This is a proper barn like feel with wooden beams above and beautiful high ceilings and stone walls
The Knot Barn - Brinsop Court Reception Space
The Knot Barn is relatively new to Brinsop Court, my first wedding there in 2022, it had just been built! I absolutely love the Knot Barn as a wedding reception space. It's large and bright and open, it's neutral so you can put your own stamp on it, it has a gorgeous garden area in front and there's an amazing pathway for your entrance that leads you straight to the front door!
As it's such a large size space, you can really make it your own with how you set it up. You could do round tables and keep things traditional or you could do a banquet style table plan or you could even have an outdoor reception at the pergola / boardwalk area under the fairy lights!
Why do I love photographing weddings at Brinsop Court?
I'm lucky enough to photograph weddings at Brinsop Court almost every year (and often more than once!), so it's become one of my absolute favourite venues to return to. I've seen it in spring, summer and autumn, and every season brings something different, from blossom-filled gardens to beautiful golden autumn colours in the trees. Knowing the venue so well means I already know the best spots for photos, where the light is at its prettiest and how to keep everything feeling relaxed, natural and gorgeous on your wedding day.
One of the things I love most about Brinsop Court is how much choice it gives you. Whether you're planning an outdoor ceremony, a cosy indoor celebration or something in between, it's so easy to make the day feel completely your own. I also love taking couples for a relaxed wander between the Manor House and the Knot Barn for a few gorgeous portraits before your reception. It's the perfect chance to catch your breath together, soak up those first few moments as newlyweds and arrive back just in time for your grand entrance. getting married at Brinsop Court?
As a Hereford wedding photographer, Brinsop Court is an absolute dream because there are beautiful backdrops around every corner and everything flows so naturally throughout the day. It has that perfect mix of elegance and warmth, with plenty of space for your guests to relax while still feeling intimate. It really is one of those venues that looks incredible in every season and always delivers the most beautiful photographs.
A few insider tips...
If you can, make time for golden hour portraits in the fields – Brinsop Court has a buggy that can take us out there, and the views (and light!) are absolutely worth it. For family photos, I always recommend using the strip of lawn between the lakes, which gives you a gorgeous, uncluttered backdrop and plenty of space for everyone. And finally, don't miss having your confetti throw outside the Manor House doors. It's one of Brinsop Court's most iconic photo spots and creates such a timeless image that you'll treasure forever.

Brinsop Court Wedding Cost - A rough guide
- Exclusive hire of wedding venue
- The French suite and Butterfly suite from 11am for the wedding party
- Fresh flower arrangements around the venue
- Decorative items like their hurricane vases, pillar candles, mirrored charger plate and wraparound foliage, cake cut log stand and knife.
- There are also three guest kitchens so you can really make yourselves at home when you're staying there and a separate cottage you can stay in the night before, even if the manor house is being used that night for another wedding.
Catering isn’t included in the price of hire for the venue but there is an in-house catering team and a selection of menus you can choose from.
