Summer wedding at Brinsop Court

We were right in the middle of a proper heatwave, with temperatures hitting 33 degrees, but honestly? It just added to the atmosphere. Fans during the ceremony, champagne spraying in the sunshine, endless blue skies and a golden-hour cornfield that looked like it had been placed there specifically for their photos. It was one of those days where everything felt a little more vibrant.

And it started at Paige’s parents’ beautiful home.

Wedding Preparations

Paige had planned her morning so well. Most of the getting ready happened in the kitchen, which was absolutely flooded with natural light – basically a photographer’s dream for those bright, airy morning photos.

What I loved most though was how calm everything felt.

Paige had even had the timeline printed and framed, which might sound like a small detail, but it made such a difference. Because everyone knew where they needed to be and when, there was no frantic rushing around. It gave me the freedom to step back, observe and actually create rather than rushing about and trying to keep up.

And that extra breathing room is where so many of my favourite photographs happen.

The little in-between moments. The laughs you don’t plan. The details happening in the background.

At one point, Paige’s twin toddlers decided they were much more interested in my camera than anything else going on and ended up sitting on my lap while I worked. Completely adorable and definitely one of those highlight moments you remember!

Meanwhile, the boys were getting ready in a nearby annex and thankfully for them, it had air conditioning.

With 33-degree heat outside and a group of groomsmen in black tuxedos, they were understandably very happy to stay there for as long as possible!

The black tuxes looked incredible against the backdrop, and Paige’s dad had another surprise waiting for Kieran. He’d brought a Porsche for him to drive to the venue, which obviously meant we had to make the most of it and grab some fun portraits before heading off.

Back at the house, we finished Paige’s preparations in her parents’ bedroom, which they had actually redecorated especially for her wedding photos. Such a thoughtful detail. Paige had some beautiful bridal portraits in her late grandad’s chair, followed by some really sentimental moments with her parents as they exchanged gifts and had their emotional reveals.

Outdoor Ceremony

Then it was time to head to Brinsop Court.

The ceremony was outside on the lawn, and the sun bathed everything in light. It was pretty hot and we weren’t in shade so the ceremony was kept short but the backdrops were amazing and so worth it! I loved looking at Paige’s parents as they said their nuptials because you could just see how proud of her they were.

And their exit?

Instead of the usual confetti shot, they went for an epic dip kiss down the aisle from their ceremony which looked amazing.

Honestly, I’m always here for couples putting their own spin on those traditional wedding moments.

Champagne Cocktail Hour at Brinsop Court & Group Photos

Cocktail hour moved towards the twin ponds, with guests relaxing beneath those gorgeous cream umbrellas.

Kieran and Paige kicked things off with a champagne spray complete with personalised ribbons before spending time greeting their guests.

Then it was time for group photos.

One of the biggest things that helped the day run so smoothly was that Paige had already pre-planned her group portraits. We could work through the combinations quickly, get everyone back to enjoying the drinks and canapés, and then finish with some fun wedding party photos.

I love using these portraits as an opportunity to play with composition rather than just lining everyone up and saying “smile”. There’s so much more energy you can bring into a wedding party photograph when you give people a little direction and let things feel natural.

Couple portraits at Brinsop Court with Editorial Edge

Paige was particularly excited about having plenty of time for couple portraits, which is always amazing to hear as they’re one of my favourite parts of the day as I get to spend 1 to 1 time with the couple and get creative.

We started beneath the trees before working through a few inspiration images she had saved.

She wanted something with a more editorial feel, so we played around with posing, composition and some more stylised images alongside the natural moments.

This is one of my favourite parts of a wedding day because it gives couples a chance to step away from everything for a little while. No guests, no schedule, no phones, just the two of them.

We then slowly made our way back towards The Knot as cocktail hour came to an end and guests were being seated.

One of my favourite little wedding photography tips is to use those last 20 minutes of cocktail hour for couple portraits.

Everyone is starting to disappear into the reception, which means you get the grounds almost completely to yourselves, but you’re still close enough to make sure you don’t miss any of those guest interactions.

It’s the sweet spot.

Speeches at The Knot

After dinner came the speeches, and there were plenty of emotional moments.

But one of my favourites was Paige’s speech honouring her mum and everything she had done for her. She also dedicated her bouquet to her.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. Including mine!

Those are the photographs that become even more meaningful years later. The ones that bring you straight back to how you felt in that exact moment.

Golden Hour Couple Photos

While Kieran and Paige were enjoying their evening cocktail hour, I had a different mission.

Find that golden light.

I headed up to one of my tried-and-tested spots at Brinsop Court which is at the top of the hill above The Knot, and when I got there I knew immediately.

The sun was hitting it perfectly and the whole landscape was glowing. It really is a luck of the draw whether you get it on your wedding day but when you do, that golden light is like nothing else.

I spoke with the coordinator, organised a buggy to collect Kieran & Paige so they didn’t have to make the walk in the heat, and off we went.

And it was SO worth it.

The light was incredible, the corn was glowing and we had such a fun little adventure getting those photographs. These are the kinds of images I love creating, photographs that feel romantic and natural but still represent that couple and who they are as people.

Wedding Dancefloor

Back at the reception, it was time for the cake cut and first dance.

And then the dancefloor absolutely came alive.

One of my biggest wedding photography tips?

If you want your guests on the dancefloor, stay on the dancefloor.

Guests naturally follow the couple’s energy. Kieran and Paige were right in the middle of it the whole time, and their guests followed suit. The result was a packed dancefloor and some fun wedding photos.

And after a full day of shooting, it was time for me to head home. Except the wedding day wasn’t quite finished for me. I got home, backed up all of their photographs and started preparing their wedding previews for the following day.

You’ve spent months, sometimes years, planning one day. Then suddenly it’s over in a flash. Getting those first photos into your hands quickly means you can relive a little piece of it while everything is still fresh.

A pretty unforgettable Brinsop Court wedding. One of my favourite venues and it’s so lovely to get to return year and year.
