Davenport House Wedding Photography

In July 2026, I was back at one of my favourite wedding venues, Davenport House, for the wedding of Suzie & Sam.

Davenport House is one of those venues that gives you so much to work with as a wedding photographer. The grand hall, beautiful panelling, sweeping staircase and gardens overlooking the countryside and all those little pockets of character mean there are opportunities for great photographs everywhere. So, it’s always so lovely to be back.

But as always, it’s the people and the moments that make the day and Suzie and Sam’s wedding had plenty of both. They thought about every little detail and the photos show it.

Bridal Prep at Davenport House

We started bridal prep around half an hour before the bridal party were due to move from the cottage across to the honeymoon suite.

This gave me enough time to photograph Suzie’s dress, shoes, jewellery and all the little details before everyone arrived. It’s something I really like to plan into the morning because it means I can get those beautiful dress and flat-lay photographs without needing to photograph them in the middle of all the bridal prep when you start needing them.

Most importantly, the dress could stay completely hidden from bridesmaids but could still be photographed in the honeymoon suite and take advantage of the gorgeous decor in there.

Once the bridal party arrived, it was time for the morning to really get going.

The Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony took place in the Grand Hall, with the aisle beautifully lined with flowers.

There are so many great angles in this room and I particularly love photographing the entrance on the stairs though the archway and also the walk alongside the windows where the light is best.

It was an emotional ceremony, and one moment that really stood out to me was seeing Sam’s mum holding his hand as he became emotional while waiting to see his bride.

Confetti & Champagne at Davenport House

Once the ceremony was over, everyone headed outside for confetti through the main entrance.

There’s something about a big confetti moment that is just iconic. The couple loved Davenport House for it’s exteriors so of course, that needed to be the backdrop for this photo. Getting a lot of the house in shot below.

While that was happening, the Davenport House team were busy transforming the back garden ready for a champagne tower in the sunshine.

I absolutely loved the set up for the champagne tower on the antique dresser, it looked so luxe!

Davenport House Reception

I absolutely love the dining room at Davenport House.

The colours, panelling and overall character of the room make it such a beautiful space for a wedding breakfast, and Suzie and Sam made the most of it with their wedding styling.

They decided to split their speeches into two parts as they had 5 of them, with some before their wedding breakfast and the rest afterwards. It worked really well and meant that everyone’s full attention was on the speakers. It also marked the start and close of their wedding breakfast well.

The long tables gave me plenty of opportunities to photograph all the reactions the laughs, the emotional moments and everything happening around the room by going through the different aisles. It’s always good to think about where your content team are going to be able to go to get those all important photos as by giving us good access to each table, we can get more candids.

Cocktails & Sparklers

After the meal, everyone headed outside for an evening cocktail hour.

And these weren’t just any cocktails.

The drinks were brought down on amazing trays with live sparklers, which made for some seriously fun photographs and gave the evening a completely different feel.

We then snuck away for 10 minutes for some glowy golden hour photos which were some of the couple’s favourites of the day.

Time to Party

Then it was time for the dancefloor.

And what a dancefloor it was.

Suzie and Sam had an epic choreographed routine alongside the live band before everyone else involved, and from there the energy just kept building.

The dancefloor was absolutely packed, the vibes were on point and everyone was going for it.

I do love a live band at a wedding. They can react to the dancefloor and change things up if needed to keep the vibes high and I LOVE when they interact with the crowd too.

It was the perfect way to finish the day.
