Authentic, Natural Wedding Photography for Relaxed Couples
Why is a great wedding venue for photography?
I'm about to introduce you to one of the greatest hidden gems when it comes to wedding venues in Worcestershire - Whitbourne Hall.
Few people know about Whitbourne Hall, it's a Grade 2 listed Victorian country house tucked away in the Worcestershire hills and only takes on a small number of weddings a year as it's also a place of residence for several people. I know right, what a place to live! BUT - as a Whitbourne Hall Wedding Photographer I'm going to tell you all about it because when I first visited this wedding venue I was BLOWN AWAY. The wedding reception space, the grounds, are utterly stunning and I'd argue, they're some of the grandest out there but the cost is so reasonable. The residents also work so hard to keep the space looking incredible and work hard before every wedding to ensure it's looking tip top. Isn't that so lovely?
It has a grand staircase, gorgeous pillars in the front, a maze, an epic waterfall. The ballroom is so beautifully decorated and bright. You cannot ask for more. So let me tell you more about this secret Worcestershire wedding venue because more people need to know about it.

The wedding spaces at Whitbourne Hall
So, Whitbourne Hall doesn't have a wedding prep area so you'll want to book a Air B&B nearby for your wedding prep moments. The key thing you want to look for is a cottage or house with lots of space for you to all fan out but also a location with lots of natural light for photos. Think loads of window light, bright and neutral interiors to allow light to reflect and brighten your complexion - it goes a LONG way. There are so many to choose from but below is some inspo of a great bridal prep location.
When I photographed a wedding at Whitbourne Hall, the couple chose to have their legal ceremony at a local church. However. you could have an indoor or outdoor ceremony at Whitbourne Hall and use a celebrant, having a legal ceremony before or after your wedding celebrations. I LOVE a celebrant led ceremony as they're super personal to the couple and you can incorporate any traditions that mean something to you. The key indoor ceremony space is in the main hall in front of Whitbourne Hall's grand staircase. WHAT A BACKDROP.
The other option is, you could have an outdoor ceremony on the lawn, overlooking the maze and fountain below or the atrium which is a surrounded by flowers if you had a smaller guest count. The main house is also in view so you have incredible views all around. It's totally up to you and you could choose to make your final decision a week or so before based on what the weather was doing too.
If you want a classic, elegant wedding reception in a space full of character - you'd better look at Whitbourne Hall's drawing room. Think huge ceilings, gold details, super detailed panelling, long red velvet curtains that go from floor to ceiling and views overlooking the grounds and beyond everywhere you look. The floor is also a classic wooden floor so you don't have any dated carpets or colour cast coming from below.
This space fits up to 120 guests and you can lay it out however you like, usually couples go for the classic round tables. It's absolutely stunning and looks like it's straight out of Bridgeton. It also sits next door to the atrium so your guests can easily move between the spaces if they want to get a drink from the bar or find a quiet spot.
I'm so lucky to have this hidden gem as a local wedding venue and when I first visited I couldn't stop talking about it. I know so many engaged couples would absolutely adore the space and you can really do with it what you like.
This wedding venue doesn't really have much of a social media presence as it's largely used as a permanent residence for the apartments upstairs but that's why it's so unknown. This is one of those rare wedding venues where it's full of character and history but it doesn't come off as dated or unloved. Actually the people who live there do so much to keep it looking it's best and go above and beyond to make it magical for the couples who get married there. Don't worry, they stay away on the wedding day itself so you don't have any random residents popping up!
When I was there for a wedding, there was so much to explore we didn't even have time to get portraits in some of the spots but the places we did get to visit were incredible. It's certainly worth a look.
