Authentic, Natural Wedding Photography for Relaxed Couples
Why is a great wedding venue for photography?
Oh Barns & Yard… where do I even begin?
Tucked away in the Worcestershire countryside, this place is an absolute gem. It's also literally down the road from me which I'm SO lucky to be able to say. If you're looking for a wedding venue that combines character, style and some seriously gorgeous views, then you might just have found your perfect match.
What I love most about being a Barns & Yard wedding photographer is that it feels completely unique. Created by sisters Lisi and Kate, the venue has been lovingly restored and transformed into a wedding space that's full of personality. Everywhere you look there's this brilliant contrast between old and new; traditional beams and beautiful brickwork sitting alongside contemporary design and thoughtful styling. It never feels forced or overly polished – it just works.
And can we talk about the team for a second? They are fantastic. Friendly, welcoming and genuinely invested in making your day incredible. The kind of people who keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes whilst making it all look effortless. Trust me, when you're planning a wedding, that sort of thing is worth its weight in gold.

The wedding spaces at Barns & Yard
One of my favourite ceremony spaces has to be The Stable which is where I love to go towards the end of bridal prep for final portraits and that all important 'putting the dress on' photo. The floor-to-ceiling windows flood the room with natural light and frame the rolling hills beyond perfectly. It's one of those spaces that makes everyone go a little bit quiet when they walk in. The views are spectacular all day long, but when golden hour rolls around? Absolute magic.
The prep spaces also border a courtyard which is the perfect spot for a reveal photo just before you go to your wedding ceremony.
My personal favourite has Barns & Yard ceremony space to be the lakeside. There's just something incredibly special about standing beside the water, surrounded by countryside, with all your favourite people gathered around you. There's plenty of room for guests, so it never feels cramped, and if you're lucky, you might even spot the resident swans gliding across the lake in the background.
From a wedding photography perspective, it's a dream. The light out there is gorgeous, the scenery is stunning in every direction, and the whole setting has this peaceful, romantic feel that makes every image look like a piece of art. Whether it's bright sunshine or a soft, cloudy day, the backdrop does all the hard work for you.
If the British weather decides not to play ball, the indoor ceremony space is equally lovely. One thing I particularly love is how much natural light fills the room. Large windows run alongside the ceremony area, with additional light coming in from the front, which means you're beautifully lit throughout your vows. It's the kind of setup photographers quietly get very excited about.
And the best bit? Once you're officially married, you're only a few steps away from the gorgeous willow arch, making the transition from ceremony to confetti throw completely seamless.
Once you’re married, we can do your confetti on the lawn as you walk out and head straight into family formals so everything flows so effortlessly.
The reception barn is everything you'd hope for from a countryside wedding venue.
Think exposed wooden beams, warm ambient lighting and plenty of character without feeling dark or heavy. It has that classic barn feel, but with a polished, contemporary finish that makes it feel really special.
One of the things I love most is how flexible the space is. The barn is divided into three sections, which means it works beautifully whether you're planning a smaller celebration or filling the place with guests. It creates a lovely flow throughout the day and gives everyone room to spread out without ever losing that atmosphere.
As the day unfolds, the light inside the barn can do some really lovely things too. Little pockets of sunlight often find their way through the windows, creating beautiful highlights across tables and details. For photographers, these little moments are gold. Whether it's your flowers catching the light, glasses sparkling during speeches, or those carefully chosen table details you've spent months planning, it all adds another layer of magic to the story of your day.
As evening arrives, the ambient lighting takes over, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere that's perfect for good food, great speeches and a packed dance floor later on. There's so many ways you can layout this space but I LOVE the horseshoe table layout for this space as for speeches, I can easily capture your top table and easily span around your guests without blocking anyone's view.
If you've recently booked Barns & Yard (or it's sitting firmly at the top of your venue shortlist), I can completely see why.
It's genuinely one of my favourite wedding venues to photograph. As a recommended wedding photographer supplier there, I've had the pleasure of capturing weddings here throughout the seasons, and every time I arrive, I'm reminded why I love it so much. The venue has this incredible balance of beautiful light, stunning countryside views and thoughtfully designed spaces that allow your day to flow naturally from one moment to the next.
From lakeside ceremonies and confetti under the willow arch to golden hour portraits overlooking the Malvern hills, there are opportunities for beautiful photographs everywhere you turn.
More than anything though, it's the atmosphere. Barns & Yard feels relaxed, welcoming and full of joy, which means couples can focus on celebrating with their favourite people while I quietly capture all the magic as it unfolds.
