A Relaxed and Family-Focused Wedding at Bredenbury Court Barns

Some wedding days are remembered for the sunshine. Others are remembered for the venue, the flowers, or the details.

Trudi and Guy’s wedding will be remembered for something much more important: the people.

From the moment I arrived for preparations, it was obvious what mattered most to these two. Their wedding wasn’t built around timelines, traditions, or perfect conditions. It was built around having the people they love most gathered together in one place to celebrate with them.

And as it turned out, the weather gave us a little bit of everything!

Bridal Preparations at Bredenbury Court Barns

Throughout the day we experienced sunshine, clouds, wind, rain, and then sunshine again. It felt as though the British weather was determined to showcase every season in a single afternoon! But if there was one thing that never changed, it was the atmosphere.

From the morning preparations, there was a genuine sense of excitement and calm. Friends and family drifted in and out of rooms, helping with final touches, sharing stories, and enjoying those quiet moments before the celebrations began.

There was no stress about the forecast, no constant checking of weather apps. Instead, the focus stayed exactly where it belonged: on the people around them.

An Emotional Wedding Ceremony Surrounded by Family and Friends

As guests arrived for the ceremony, they brought with them an energy that would define the entire day. There was a really friendly atmosphere and with the ceremony space filled with natural light from all the windows it felt super bright and open even though it was raining outside.

Their ceremony was filled with emotion, laughter, and more than a few happy tears. The kind of ceremony where you can feel every person in the room completely invested in the moment. The personalised vows made everyone cry and Trudi & Guy ensured all their children had a role to play in the ceremony.

Cocktail Hour at Bredenbury Court Barns

Following the ceremony, the changing conditions continued to keep us on our toes. At various points we found sunshine breaking through the clouds before giving way to showers once again. But rather than disrupting the day, it became part of the story.

Guests embraced every moment, moving effortlessly between indoor celebrations and heading out to the grounds whenever the weather allowed.

One of the things I loved most about Trudi and Guy’s wedding was how intentionally they chose to spend their time. Rather than disappearing for long periods of portraits, they prioritised being present with their family and friends and enjoying their string quartet which allowed me plenty of time to capture lots of lovely candids which was important to them.

Relaxed Couple Portraits at Bredenbury Court Barns

When it came to couple portraits, Trudi & Guy, like a lot of my couples valued having photos of them together but also didn’t want formal photos to take up too much of their cocktail hour when they were chatting with friends. So we took them out for 10 minutes prior to their wedding reception to have a little walk around the grounds close by and capture some laid back, relaxed photos of them.

There are so many gorgeous spots for couple photos at Bredenbury Barns, however when a couple want to keep time to a minimum I’ll photograph as close to their reception as possible so we can have maximum time taking photos over walking further out to get to alternative spots.

For me, it’s all about working around what my couples priorities are on the day and making their photography work into those preferences.

A Joyful Wedding Breakfast Celebration

As guests gathered for the wedding breakfast, the atmosphere was exactly what Trudi and Guy had envisioned from the start.

A room full of the people they care about most, sharing food, stories, laughter, and celebrating together.

The speeches reflected everything that had made the day so special: love, family, friendship and the importance of the relationships that had brought everyone together.

They also had the most incredible wedding cake!
