Hanbury Barns is a gorgeous venue in Staffordshire which has been restored in a way that just makes wedding photos pop! Every space is gorgeous and perfectly styled for wedding photos. It’s really no surprise that it was actually renovated under the guidance of ex-photographer Adrian and his family who decided to make Hanbury Barns what it is today.

I arrived at Hanbury Barns in July this year to photograph the wedding celebration of Shweta and Subs with their family and friends. It was a super relaxed day and a way for family to celebrate with them who couldn’t make their wedding in Nepal earlier in the year. It was beautifully styled by Lush Occasions and we had ample time for wedding couple portraits and candid’s which were important to the couple.

Wedding Prep

With a room for both Bridal and Groom prep, it was so easy for me and my second photographer to document both halves of the party before they met for their pre-ceremony couple portraits. Given that their legals were already done, we were able to do Subs & Shweta’s couple photos before their wedding guests arrived. This gave them total privacy to move around the venue and lots of time to get a varied mix of solo and couple portraits so they had plenty to choose from.

Confetti Photos

For the ceremony space, Hanbury Barns has the gorgeous 18th century red brick barn which is beautifully lit with natural light but keeps those rustic beams couples love. For this wedding, the couple decided to skip the ceremony and spend more time with family for an extended cocktail hour outdoors but not before the had a gorgeous wedding confetti moment beside the lake.

Candid Wedding Photos

For S&S, having lots of candid wedding photos of their guests was really important. Photos of them interacting with their nearest and dearest, in addition to capturing moments they might not otherwise have seen. Having booked a second photographer as part of their wedding package, we were able to subtly capture different groups as they enjoyed the various entertainment going on from games to magicians.

Reception Details

The wedding breakfast was absolutely stunning. Hanbury Barns regularly have Lush Occasions style the venue for weddings and I could see why, it was so stunning. One of my favourite parts was the blossom trees over the top table. Wow. The couple had a reception reveal before all their guests arrived and were blown away by the final result after months of planning.

Wedding Dancefloor

We got to capture the most incredible dancefloor after wedding breakfast. First there was a few family dances with the grooms sister, and cousins. Then Subs parents has a dance for the couple. Then, it was Subs & Shweta’s turn. With an incredible choreographed first dance for their wedding, it was amazing to watch with all the spins and turns.

Golden Hour Portraits

We rounded up wedding coverage with some beautiful golden hour portraits in the meadow lining the wedding venue as the wedding guests were heading off to the dessert table. It was the perfect end to a wonderful wedding day and we enjoyed every moment.
