Caswell House Wedding Photography

Why is IT a great wedding venue for photography?

About Caswell House

If you're dreaming of a Cotswolds wedding venue, the honey-stone brick, the rolling fields, the cute cottages - you need to book in a visit Caswell House.

A short drive away from the gorgeous village of Burford, Caswell House is in a private, countryside area with golden fields all around. Every inch of this wedding venue has been beautifully landscaped and there's so many beautiful spaces to have your wedding. There's also a stunning tree-lined sweeping drive opening out into a gorgeous courtyard where you can see the Keeper's retreat, so your guests get that wow factor the moment they arrive.

There is so much history at Caswell House and it really is one of the Cotswolds most beautiful wedding venues (that's why I wrote a whole page about it), so let's discuss all the different spaces from a wedding photography perspective so you can visualise how your wedding day and gallery might look!

Why do I love photographing weddings at Caswell House?

What makes Caswell House so special isn't just the looks (though, wow) - it's how effortlessly relaxed the whole day feels. Everything flows from welcome drinks in the courtyard, through to the barns for dining and dancing.

There are also incredible spaces for your wedding to take place whether that's under the Loggia archway, or portraits when you're tucked away in the walled garden. You're also surrounded by gorgeous Oxfordshire Cotswolds countryside, so you can head to the surrounding fields for golden hour photos to get that long grass vibe.

The honey-coloured stone, flagstone floors and oak beams add so much character to this wedding venue and it's also so close to many popular tourist spots. So you could continue your wedding celebrations into the day after and get a pint at the iconic Farmer's Dog pub (Clarkson's farm fans anyone) or pop over to the gorgeous Burton Garden Centre for a spot of lunch before you all say goodbye!

Whay type of couple should consider

getting married at Caswell House?

If you're after a wedding venue that's steeped in history and full of character, Caswell House has it in spades. It's literally what you'd picture when you imagine a Cotswolds wedding venue - classic stone barns, gorgeous landscaping, and garden spaces made for beautiful portrait backdrops. Picture your guests spilling out onto the lawn during cocktail hour with a glass of Pimm's in hand, or dancing beneath the fairy lights in Wenmans Barn as the night draws in. It's also the kind of place you'll want to return to for years to come, whether that's to reminisce or simply to enjoy the local Cotswolds villages like Stow-on-the-Wold and Burford all over again.

Insider Tips for couples getting married at Caswell House:

  • Don't skip sunset portraits. Trust me on this one. Towards the end of your wedding breakfast (or just after, depending on the season), I'll whisk you away to the golden fields surrounding Caswell House for those beautiful long-grass photos that capture the landscape at its best.
  • Plan your reveal for just before you head to your registrar meeting. Step outside the dressing room barn and you'll have space for your wedding party to fan out as you walk through the door - meaning you catch every reaction at once, rather than one at a time.
  • Don't stress the timeline. Always build in more time than you think you'll need. That way, whether you're running a little behind getting ready or want to properly enjoy cocktail hour, you'll still have all the time you need for portraits too.
