Authentic, Natural Wedding Photography for Relaxed Couples
Why is IT a great wedding venue for photography?
If you're dreaming of a Cotswolds wedding venue, the honey-stone brick, the rolling fields, the cute cottages - you need to book in a visit Caswell House.
A short drive away from the gorgeous village of Burford, Caswell House is in a private, countryside area with golden fields all around. Every inch of this wedding venue has been beautifully landscaped and there's so many beautiful spaces to have your wedding. There's also a stunning tree-lined sweeping drive opening out into a gorgeous courtyard where you can see the Keeper's retreat, so your guests get that wow factor the moment they arrive.
There is so much history at Caswell House and it really is one of the Cotswolds most beautiful wedding venues (that's why I wrote a whole page about it), so let's discuss all the different spaces from a wedding photography perspective so you can visualise how your wedding day and gallery might look!

The wedding spaces at Caswell House
The 'dressing room' is the main wedding preparation area at Caswell House with the car park just behind so it's easy for you and your wedding party to get there in the morning. The space is neutral and light overlooking the gardens and main barn area so you can keep an eye on all the goings-on on the run up to your wedding ceremony. There are lots of mirrors, and a private room for you to get dress in ready for you reveal moment. There are also floor length mirrors in both spaces which is so great for wedding photos and also so you and your wedding party can do a full outfit check before you go.
The other prep space is called 'the games room' which is inside the Keeper's Lodge, this is on the other side of Caswell House so there's no way you and your partner would accidentally walk into each other! The Games Room has comfy leather sofas, a bar area and a football table to keep you busy. It's also in the same area as most of the guest accommodation so you can easily dip between rooms if you need to.
As a Cotswolds wedding photographer, it's always great to photograph a wedding in a venue that has lots of options. It means that no matter what the weather, you have a space for your ceremony and you're not compromising on what's important to you. For Caswell House, there is one main indoor ceremony space and two outdoor spaces you can get married in.
The indoor ceremony space is at 'Wenmans Barn' which is where your wedding reception will happen later in the day. I absolutely LOVE the heigh ceilings in the barn with the gorgeous draping, you can put you mark on it with your florals and colours but it's a beautiful, warm space built with the classic Cotswolds stone couples love at Cotswolds wedding venues.
If you fancy an outdoor ceremony, which I ALWAYS recommend if the weather is behaving, there are two gorgeous spaces you can use. The first, and a pretty iconic space at Caswell House is in their stone barn archway called the Loggia arch which is surrounded by the gardens and flower beds. It looks like you're in the middle of Tuscany on a summer's day! A gorgeous floral pillar arch around that gate looks so stunning for your backdrop. After your ceremony, this is a great place for family photos too.
There's also a second outdoor ceremony space which is in a shadier patch of the venue, so a great alternative if it's a hot day and there's a lot of harsh sun. You're beneath gorgeous mature trees and to the left is a cute bridge where you can get a couple of photos.
The Wenmans barn is a gorgeous space for your wedding reception, it has gorgeous fairy lights strung across the ceiling which adds a gorgeous ambient light as you move into the evening celebrations, and lots of window light from the side to bathe your guests in lots of natural light for speech photos. I love how this space is so large you can have lots of flexibility in how you set it up too
What makes Caswell House so special isn't just the looks (though, wow) - it's how effortlessly relaxed the whole day feels. Everything flows from welcome drinks in the courtyard, through to the barns for dining and dancing.
There are also incredible spaces for your wedding to take place whether that's under the Loggia archway, or portraits when you're tucked away in the walled garden. You're also surrounded by gorgeous Oxfordshire Cotswolds countryside, so you can head to the surrounding fields for golden hour photos to get that long grass vibe.
The honey-coloured stone, flagstone floors and oak beams add so much character to this wedding venue and it's also so close to many popular tourist spots. So you could continue your wedding celebrations into the day after and get a pint at the iconic Farmer's Dog pub (Clarkson's farm fans anyone) or pop over to the gorgeous Burton Garden Centre for a spot of lunch before you all say goodbye!
