Barns & Yard Wedding Photography

Why is a great wedding venue for photography?

About Barns & Yard at hanley hall

Oh Barns & Yard… where do I even begin?

Tucked away in the Worcestershire countryside, this place is an absolute gem. It's also literally down the road from me which I'm SO lucky to be able to say. If you're looking for a wedding venue that combines character, style and some seriously gorgeous views, then you might just have found your perfect match.

What I love most about being a Barns & Yard wedding photographer is that it feels completely unique. Created by sisters Lisi and Kate, the venue has been lovingly restored and transformed into a wedding space that's full of personality. Everywhere you look there's this brilliant contrast between old and new; traditional beams and beautiful brickwork sitting alongside contemporary design and thoughtful styling. It never feels forced or overly polished – it just works.

And can we talk about the team for a second? They are fantastic. Friendly, welcoming and genuinely invested in making your day incredible. The kind of people who keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes whilst making it all look effortless. Trust me, when you're planning a wedding, that sort of thing is worth its weight in gold.

Why do I love photographing weddings at Barns & Yard at hanley hall?

If you've recently booked Barns & Yard (or it's sitting firmly at the top of your venue shortlist), I can completely see why.

It's genuinely one of my favourite wedding venues to photograph. As a recommended wedding photographer supplier there, I've had the pleasure of capturing weddings here throughout the seasons, and every time I arrive, I'm reminded why I love it so much. The venue has this incredible balance of beautiful light, stunning countryside views and thoughtfully designed spaces that allow your day to flow naturally from one moment to the next.

From lakeside ceremonies and confetti under the willow arch to golden hour portraits overlooking the Malvern hills, there are opportunities for beautiful photographs everywhere you turn.

More than anything though, it's the atmosphere. Barns & Yard feels relaxed, welcoming and full of joy, which means couples can focus on celebrating with their favourite people while I quietly capture all the magic as it unfolds.

Whay type of couple should consider

getting married at Barns & Yard?

Barns & Yard is such a great choice if you love the idea of a countryside wedding but don't actually want to be too far off the beaten track.

It feels wonderfully rural, with the Malvern Hills and beautiful long grass fields all around you, but it's also really easy for guests to get to thanks to the nearby motorway. There are some lovely pubs just down the road too, like the Swan (amazing food) so it's ideal if you want everyone to make a weekend of it.

If you're drawn to that gorgeous barn aesthetic but also want plenty of outdoor space, you'll love it here. The landscaped gardens are perfect for photos, lawn games and a relaxed cocktail hour in the sunshine. It's probably best suited to smaller weddings of around 60 guests, where the reception space feels cosy, intimate and full of atmosphere.

Insider Tips for couples getting married at Barns & Yard ...

I've photographed a few weddings at Barns & Yard now, and there are a few spots I always get excited about.

First up is the jetty. Head across the iconic bridge and you'll find this gorgeous little spot overlooking the water. The light here is absolutely beautiful, especially for a back-of-the-dress photo or just a quiet moment together. I even had one couple choose this spot for their private vows, and it was honestly one of the most special moments of the day.

Another hidden gem is the field by the car park. It might not look like much at first, but trust me! As the sun starts to set, the light drops perfectly over the fields and it becomes an incredible location for golden hour portraits. It's well worth sneaking away for 10 minutes if the weather's on your side.

And finally, don't overlook the Stable accommodation block for your bridal portraits. The huge floor-to-ceiling window fills the room with the dreamiest natural light, making it perfect for dress photos and those final getting-ready moments. My biggest tip? Try to keep the space as clutter-free as possible until you're dressed. It makes such a difference in your photos and gives you that bright, clean backdrop you'll love looking back on.
