Spring Folly Farm Wedding

Spring wedding at Folly Farm

Back to the blog

Hattie and Jake’s gorgeous Folly Farm wedding has been sitting patiently in my archives, waiting for its moment to shine on the blog — and today’s the day! As a Cotswolds wedding photographer, this wedding had everything I love: stunning views, a relaxed atmosphere, and a couple who are just full of joy and want to have an amazing time.

Folly Farm is an absolute gem of a venue. Set in the heart of the countryside, it offers countryside views, rustic barn buildings filled with natural light (very important!), and a spacious courtyard that’s perfect for cocktail hour. One of the things I adore most about a Folly Farm wedding is the way it combines natural beauty with a laid-back vibe — ideal for couples who want a relaxed yet elegant celebration. You never quite know what a March wedding in the UK will bring weather-wise, but we were truly spoilt. The sun shone all day, with crisp blue skies that gave us the most perfect spring backdrop.

Hattie first found me through a recommendation from one of my lovely previous brides she worked with in Bristol. There’s something so special about working with couples through word-of-mouth — it always feels that little bit more personal. From our first chat, I knew their wedding would be full of love, laughter, and a strong sense of fun.

Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony took place in Folly Farm’s light-filled barn, where sunlight streamed in through the windows and glass vases filled with pastel posies from Golden Valley Meadow adorned every surface. It created the dreamiest spring atmosphere. When the registrar announced them husband and wife, they shared a celebratory high ten (yes, a high ten!), followed by a kiss that made everyone smile. Moments like these are what natural wedding photography is all about — capturing the joy and real emotion of the day.

Formal Portraits

We took family portraits under the archway that overlooks the courtyard, using the mix of light and shade to create soft, flattering images. Then it was time for Hattie and Jake’s couple portraits, and this is where the magic really happened. We wandered around the pond, music playing softly from my little speaker, as they danced and laughed together. They were so completely in the moment, and it made for the most relaxed and heartfelt images.

Speeches

Later, the speeches brought a few tears and a lot of laughter. The best man’s speech was one of the most memorable I’ve heard — funny, touching, and full of genuine love for the groom.

Golden Hour

As golden hour approached, we slipped away for a quiet walk through the fields. Sunset is my favourite time for portraits, and these images turned out to be some of my favourites from the day.

Dancefloor

Afterward, it was back to the barn for a full-on dance floor party, where the energy never dipped. Looking back at these photos reminds me why I love being a Bristol wedding photographer. This Folly Farm wedding was the perfect blend of romance, fun, and authenticity — and the kind of day that makes natural wedding photography so rewarding.
