Recently, I got to visit this gorgeous family for the first time for the birth of their second baby, Margot. Their newborn photography session took place in the comfort of their home just outside of Hereford and I travelled up when Margot was just shy of two weeks old.
When I capture newborn sessions, I try to keep things as relaxed and calm as possible, working at the family’s pace and taking as many breaks as they need. Life is chaotic when you have a new baby, especially if they have older siblings too, so I want to keep things as natural as possible and work with the older siblings, only when they’re ready to. In this case, Margot’s big sister was super keen to get baby cuddles so we started with sibling photos first.
It was an overcast day, so we picked a space in the master bedroom with mama Mollie was curled up with baby Margot and I set to work clearing the space ready for newborn photos. I popped some relaxing music on to set the mood and opened the curtains to let that gorgeous window light in. We then slowly worked around Margot.
I was so grateful to have been a part of this special moment and soon after their newborn session, Mollie and Luke booked me to photograph their wedding day so I’m very excited to catch up with them all again soon.
If you are based in Worcester, Hereford or the Cotswolds and are currently pregnant or have just welcomed your newborn, please don’t hesitate to get in touch to book your newborn photoshoot. These days are so fleeting and it’s so amazing getting to revisit those sleepy newborn bubble days over and over as your children grow.
