Summer wedding photos at Barns and Yard, Hanley Hall

As a Worcester wedding photographer, there are certain venues that always make me excited to return, and Barns & Yard wedding venue is right at the top of that list. Emma & Matt’s wedding this summer was no exception, a celebration filled with love, laughter, and the most incredible atmosphere.

Morning Preparations in the Cottage

It was a hot, overcast day when I arrived, and from the moment I stepped into the main cottage, Emma and her bridal party made me feel so welcome. They even showed me where they had hidden their good luck sausages for the weather, one of my favourite little pre-wedding traditions!

Most of the morning was spent in the main cottage, but we saved another with a huge window for the bridal portraits. The soft light was perfect, giving us some truly stunning, natural wedding photography moments to start the day.

A Stunning Outdoor Ceremony by the Lake

Meanwhile, the ceremony space was being prepared by the team at Bride and Bloom, who created gorgeous pink floral displays. Against the lush green backdrop of the lake, the florals looked absolutely breathtaking. Emma had also made the day extra special by including her mum’s favourite flowers throughout the design – such a thoughtful and emotional touch.

Before heading down the aisle, Emma shared a first look with her dad and bridesmaids in the courtyard. It was such an emotional reveal and a beautiful moment to document. Then came one of my favourite parts of the day as a wedding photographer: Matt’s face when he saw Emma for the first time. His expression truly said it all.

Cocktail Hour & Couple Portraits

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour while I moved around capturing candids – hugs, laughter, and little moments of joy. Emma & Matt joined their loved ones before slipping away with me for family portraits by the lake.

As guests were ushered inside, we had the grounds to ourselves for couple portraits. I always love photographing couples at this time because they don’t feel like they’re missing out on anything, and Barns & Yard gives such a variety of stunning backdrops for relaxed, natural wedding photography.

Reception in the Barn

The barn looked amazing for the wedding breakfast and speeches, with its rustic warmth and cosy atmosphere. Having a second photographer meant we could capture every angle – the reactions across the room as well as those special moments at the top table.

After the meal, Emma & Matt joined their guests for an evening cocktail hour in the courtyard before sneaking away for a few golden hour portraits. The soft, glowing light at Barns & Yard is always a dream to photograph, and those portraits are some of my favourites from the day.

An Evening to Remember

The evening reception was simply electric. The couple had booked a sax/DJ act who jumped straight into the dancefloor after the first dance, saxophone in hand, and really got the party started. The energy was incredible, and I couldn’t resist staying on the dancefloor a little longer to capture those unforgettable moments.

Final Thoughts

Emma & Matt’s wedding was everything a celebration should be: personal, joyful, and filled with love.
