I’ve been to Gorcott Hall as a wedding photographer before but this was probably the HOTTEST wedding I’ve ever photographed. I was also heavily pregnant when I photographed it! So, grab a cold drink and get ready to dive into the deets of Lee & Ashley’s wedding! Picture this: temperatures soaring over 33 degrees, an outdoor ceremony overlooking the beautiful Gorcott Hall, private dance in fields at sunset, smoke bombs – it’s got it all.

Ceremony

It was so much fun to be the wedding photographer for Lee & Ashley’s wedding set within Gorcott Hall‘s private grounds. For their ceremony, they used their nieces and nephews as flower girls and page boys for an outdoor ceremony and then each groom walked down in turn ready to say their vows beneath the sun. I love photographing outdoor wedding ceremonies as there’s so much more space for me to photograph the main events from different angles. There’s also never an issue with a space being too dark or too ‘orangey’ as it’s all in daylight!

Couple Portraits

After the ceremony was finished all the guests went to enjoy pimm’s and beers in the beautiful landscaped gardens whilst I worked with the couple on their family and couple portraits. As it was a super hot today, I found the shadiest spots for photos to ensure no one was in harsh light and squinting. For the group portrait, popping all guests in the courtyard and climbing up to the top window of Gorcott Hall was a great way to ensure everyone was in shot and it made them giggle seeing my camera peeping out the window too!

Wedding Reception

For their entrance to their wedding breakfast, the grooms decided to do a pork pie cake cutting, a nod to Ashley’s job! They then moved into speeches where some touching sentiments were made. My favourite was when the best man brought out a piggy bank for guests to fill for Ashley and Lee who were keen to start their journey to parenthood soon after getting married. Speeches are always such a wonderful part of the day for me as a wedding photographer, I love all the natural and candid photos you can get.

Golden Hour

Now, let’s talk about the pièce de résistance – rainbow smoke bombs! Lee & Ashley decided to add a burst of colour and pride to their group portraits towards the end of the day. The result? A kaleidoscope of vibrant hues enveloping the couple and their entourage. And, of course, a dash of humour when the blue & purple bomb decided to play hard to get. It might not have worked, but it sure added an unexpected twist to the day!
