I absolutely love being a wedding photographer for city elopement weddings. They always have a way of surprising me with their spontaneity, fun, and the incredible attitude of the couples. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a city wedding in Hereford, and it was a perfect reflection of the couple’s personality and passions. This is exactly how a wedding should be!
Bridal Prep
My day started with Amy during her bridal prep at a local hotel in Hereford. The atmosphere was wonderfully relaxed, with Amy multitasking between feeding her two young sons and getting herself ready. As a wedding photographer, I aim to be as helpful as possible, so I found myself clearing space for portraits, assisting Amy in locating things she needed, and even giving one of her twins a quick cuddle when he tried to climb out of his cot.
Amy’s wedding dress, which she found on Etsy, was stunning with its gorgeous blush undertones. I took several wedding photos of the dress hanging up and captured candid moments of Amy in it as she added the final touches.
Ceremony
The ceremony took place at the Hereford registry office. Amy and Luke’s kids, acting as page boys and ring bearers, sat in the front row. The ceremony was relaxed and informal, with everyone eagerly awaiting the couple’s vows. We managed to capture some fantastic confetti shots on the stairs leading out onto the street, adding to the vibrant city wedding atmosphere.
Walk to Hereford Cathedral
The couple wanted their family photos to be taken at the iconic Hereford Cathedral. So, the entire wedding party took a stroll through the streets from the registry office to the cathedral. This walk offered countless opportunities for amazing city wedding photos as passers-by cheered and congratulated the newlyweds.
Wedding Breakfast at Beefy Boys
The couple chose Beefy Boys, their favorite local burger joint, for their wedding breakfast. This popular Hereford spot perfectly matched the industrial, cool vibes of their wedding day. It was a fantastic setting for some relaxed and fun wedding photos.
Couple Portraits
For the couple’s portraits, we headed to the bridge near Left Bank Village, where their wedding reception was held, overlooking a beautiful river. The couple were eager to try some dramatic poses, including an epic lift pose in the centre of the bridge. We also captured some lovely natural moments, like Amy laughing as we chatted during the shoot. These wedding photos really reflected the sheer fun of the day which is a huge part of my style, capturing the essence of what really happened.
First Dance
As evening guests arrived, the couple took to the dance floor for their first dance, swirling gracefully before everyone dug into a delightful evening buffet of pizza and nibbles. It was a perfect end to a wonderful day. I then made my farewells as guests started to potter off for a drink and a chat.
